It is thought the incident centres on flats in Surrey Road, close to the seafront and opposite Thanet Indoor Bowls club.

Forensics vehicles are at the scene, while a number of officers have been seen putting on protective suits.

It is not known if this is because of the nature of the incident or as a precaution amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Officers have also unloaded equipment from a van.
