A council has placed a former special educational needs school earmarked for 14 new homes on the market.
Saxon House in Broadstairs has been empty since 2017 after Foreland Fields School relocated to Ramsgate.
But Kent County Council (KCC) has unveiled plans to sell the site and surrounding land in Tina Gardens for an undisclosed sum.
Estate agent DHA Land Ltd said: “Due to being surplus to requirements, KCC has obtained Department of Education approvals to dispose of the land.
“The current structure on the site, known as Saxon House, is a single-story building of block and brick construction, dating from the 1980s to 1990s.
“The site is allocated for residential development in the Thanet local plan, with a site capacity for 14 dwellings.”
Although a price has not been listed, the transaction value was previously said to be more than £1 million.
The land stretches across 1.46 acres and includes an outbuilding and grassed open space, with bids from interested parties currently being considered.
KCC councillors voted to offload the asset in February 2023.
A council report published online at the time said: "The sale of the property will result in a capital receipt for KCC, which will be used to support our capital programme.
"Disposal of the property will produce a saving on the current holding costs."
The local education authority said the vacant building is "surplus to ongoing operational requirements".
It added that any income from the sale would be used to support the running of council services and further economic investment in other areas.
Foreland Special Educational Needs became the Foreland Fields School in 2017.
It moved to a new purpose-built facility in Newlands Lane, Ramsgate.
