Four arrested and police officer assaulted as brawls breaks out on Margate seafront

Four people have been arrested after a seafront brawl broke out - with a police officer among those assaulted.

Bobbies on the beat in Margate town centre were alerted to a disturbance involving a group of people in the Marine Gardens area shortly before 5.30pm yesterday.

One picture taken at the scene shows officers pinning two people to the ground.

A police spokesperson said: “A 29-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of assault.

“A 22-year-old woman from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly and possession of Class A drugs.

“They both currently remain in custody.”

A 39-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Margate, were also arrested.

They received a community resolution after admitting to obstructing a police officer.
