Gunman holds up filling station cashier

A CASHIER at a petrol station in Thanet was left shaken early today after an armed robbery.

The robber approached the night service hatch at the Fairways Garage in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, near Margate, at about 1.45am brandishing a small black handgun. He demanded money and the cashier handed over £500.

The man then ran off towards Zion Place. He is white, in his early to mid 20s and 5ft 11in tall. He was wearing a baseball cap, light coloured jacket, jeans and a yellow scarf.

CCTV is being checked but police are asking for anyone who witnessed the robbery or who recognises the description to contact DS Tristan Kluibenschadl on 01843 222194.
