Officials have found a huge haul of cigarettes, spirits, and rotting food stashed inside a plane arriving at Kent International Airport.

UK Border Agency (UKBA) workers at Manston found 20,000 Benson and Hedges cigarettes hidden inside banana boxes on board a flight from Accra, Ghana.

They also uncovered more than 300 litres of home-made and commercially produced alcohol inside containers filled with leaves and a large quantity of fish - some of which had rotten to the point of being liquid.

Trading Standards are investigating the discovery of around 150 boxes of skin lotions and cosmetics on the same flight.
