Hunt after student's bag is snatched

A JAPANESE student was pulled to the ground when a thief stole her bag. The 22-year-old was walking through Northdown Park in Thanet when she heard someone running behind her.

When she turned round a man snatched her bag from her shoulder, pulling her to the ground.

The man, who has olive coloured skin, was in his early 20s and about 6ft 4in tall. He was wearing a long-sleeved hooded top with the hood up, dark trousers and trainers.

The man ran off towards the wooded area of the park and the woman ran after him. She ran alongside the trees but lost sight of him. She then went to Northdown House and reported the theft.

The police who were called searched the wooded area found the woman’s bag. A mobile phone, credit cards and £80 had been stolen.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Tuesday. Witnesses to this robbery are asked to call DC Pip Harvey at Margate Police Station on 01843 222146.
