The short clip, which shows a plate being loaded up with chunky chips alongside some battered fish, has also attracted more than 3,000 comments and 117,000 likes.

The cause of the debate is undoubtedly the salad - made up of lettuce, cucumber, red onion, tomato and a slice of lemon.

The most-liked comment says: "Erm, is anyone going to mention it... who has salad with fish and chips?"

Others observe that as the chips are dropped onto the plate, some of the salad is pushed back into the fryer.

"Deep fried lettuce anyone?" quips one user.

But others have leapt to the chippy's defence, saying: "Don't get the haters, that looks so GOOD."

Meanwhile, several of the commenters on TikTok - which has more than one billion users - ask for the address, apparently keen to try the dish for themselves.
