A Kent couple are feared to be among those on board a plane that crashed in India this morning.
Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, who run the Wellness Foundry in Ramsgate and London, are believed to have been passengers on the Air India flight to Gatwick, which crashed in Ahmedabad with more than 240 people on board – 53 of whom were British.
At least 200 people have been killed in the tragedy.
The Foreign Office is yet to confirm any official details, but tributes have been paid to the couple online.
Ramsgate Pride, which had been set to host the pair at its event on Saturday, said: “We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that The Wellness Foundry Workshops will no longer be taking place at our Pride event due to the sudden and devastating loss of Jamie and Fiongal in the Air India Flight.
“Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this tragic time. If anybody needs support, please do reach out.”
Another wrote: “Rest in Peace, Jamie and Fiongul. I can’t believe you were on that flight.
“Just after buying the beautiful house on our road. Such a beautiful couple. You never know what life has in store. I’m utterly heartbroken for your families.”
Jamie’s brother, Nick Meek, told MailOnline: “We were expecting him home tonight. He should have landed at 6.30pm and then driven up for about 11pm to get his dog who is staying with our mum.
“She is not in a good way. It is all very raw for her at the moment. It's a lot to take in, and we only heard this news a couple of hours ago.
“Jamie and his husband Fin had been out there for 10 days as a couple to do a wellness retreat.”
On Tuesday, the Greenlaw-Meeks posted on their social media accounts from their boutique hotel in India, discussing plans to make a vlog documenting their time in the country.
Sitting beside his husband, Fiongal said: “So it’s our last night in India and we have had a magical experience really, there have been some quite mind-blowing things that have happened.”
Jamie added: “We really have been on quite a journey, and then just spending the last night here in this amazing hotel, and we have just had the most delicious Tali food. It was a perfect way to round up the trip. Excited to share it all with you”.
Another video online appears to show the smiling pair in the airport waiting to board a flight back to England, as they said: “Goodbye India.”
The couple run their business in south London as well as Ramsgate, which offers psychic readings, tarot, Reiki and yoga.
It has collaborated with brands including Dior, Google, and Netflix.
They have been together since 2019, getting married in various ceremonies, including one in Las Vegas, in 2022.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft the pair are believed to have been on took off from Ahmedabad at 1.38pm local time and crashed in a residential area called Meghani Nagar five minutes later.
A video circulating online showed the aircraft flying over a residential area before disappearing behind trees, followed by a huge explosion and large plumes of black smoke.
Images of the aftermath of the crash showed parts of the plane embedded into B J Medical College as firefighters tackled the smoke.
The airline said 241 of the 242 people aboard the flight en-route to London have died.
The plane was carrying 12 crew members and 230 passengers, of which 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were British, one was Canadian and seven were Portuguese.
Air India said it "offers its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased".
