Man in 60s dies in hospital after assault in Harbour Street, Ramsgate, last month

A man assaulted in a town centre last month has died.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was taken to King’s College Hospital in London after the attack, which happened at 10.41pm on Friday, March 28, in Harbour Street, Ramsgate.

He sustained head trauma and police have now confirmed the victim has succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Officers say they are continuing to investigate following the man’s death.

Marshall Mitchell, of Crescent Road, Ramsgate, was previously charged with unlawful wounding in relation to the incident.

The 34-year-old appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 31 and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on April 28.

A police spokesperson said: “Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are in contact with those involved and enquiries are ongoing.”
