Ramsgate seafront assault: Kent Police make arrest after man left unconscious on Harbour Parade

A man is being questioned by police after a serious assault left a man unconscious on a seafront last night.

Police were called to Harbour Parade in Ramsgate at 3.10am and found a man with injuries to his head and face having been knocked out.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the attack.

Police said damage was caused to a police car and the man, who is from Gravesend, was also arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage as well as assault and affray.

Paramedics who first attended the scene found the victim - a man in his 40s - unconscious and treated him before he was taken to the QEQM in Margate.

A police spokesman said the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.

The spokesman added: "Investigating officers want to thank the witnesses who have already come forward with information, and ask that anyone who saw the assault but has yet to speak to police."

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance service said: "The patient was reported to be unconscious when we responded to the call. Ambulance crews attended and one person was taken to QEQM hospital."
