Broadstairs: Police investigate reported assault in High Street, St Peters

A man was taken to hospital with a head injury following an alleged attack as he crossed a road.

Officers were called to High Street, St Peters, Broadstairs, after the man in his 40s was hurt on the pedestrian crossing.

The incident happened between 2.30pm and 2.40pm on New Year's Eve.

The man was stopped while driving in Coombfield Drive, Dartford.

A 27-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested, and has since been released while the investigation continues.

Officers thanked those who came forward after the incident, and urged any other witnesses to call them on 01843 222289 quoting ZY/64499/17.
