Man raped near children’s park in Cliftonville, Margate

Police are hunting for witnesses after a man was reportedly raped yards away from a children’s play park.

The incident is said to have taken place between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday on the promenade between the Lido and Newgate Gap near the Viking Ship Play Park in Ethelbert Crescent, Margate.

The victim was allegedly approached by another man when the assault took place.

The suspect is described as slim, under 5ft 5ins and aged in his early 20s. It is believed he was wearing a black hooded coat, black tracksuit, and black trainers.

Vehicles were pictured on Ethelbert Crescent and at the Newgate Gap this morning, which was blocked off by officers while detectives remain on the scene.
