An alcoholic raided a town centre pizza takeaway and stole 12 pots of ice cream.

Barry Martin, 36, of Clarendon Road, Margate, also swiped three TVs and two electronic tablets from Roma Pizza in Cliftonville.

He admitted the June raid and has been ordered to pay the Northdown Road shop £1,326 in compensation.

He must also do 150 hours of unpaid community work and undergo six months of treatment for alcohol dependency.
