As the man fled on foot, a 27-year-old male, believed to have been a passenger, was arrested on suspicion of affray but then later released without charge.

Police say the driver failed to stop when requested to do so and efforts are being made to identify him.

The incident was linked to a disturbance earlier in the evening, at 10pm, in Chandos Road, Broadstairs, according to the force.

Officers were alerted following reports a man made threats to others.
