A new maternity triage unit staffed by midwives 24/7 has opened at the QEQM to help pregnant women get advice and treatment.

It is also for women who are worried their waters may have broken.

Staff hope the unit will improve care and support.

Hannah Horne, East Kent Hospitals’ deputy head of midwifery, says they are delighted to be able to offer women a dedicated assessment area where they can get checked if they have any concerns.

"It means there is somewhere they can go whatever time of the day or night, and know they will be looked after and given expert advice and support," she added.

For advice or more information, contact the unit on 01843 234483.
