Building site floor collapse in Ramsgate town centre as two men are taken to hospital with crush injuries

Two men have been taken to hospital after a floor collapsed at a building site this morning.

One man is reported to have plunged through a floor with concrete blocks also falling onto men who were working at the site in King Street, Ramsgate.

One man in his 40s has a broken leg and another man in his 20s suffered leg injuries.

Medics and police crews attended the scene.

Ambulance spokesman Richard Airey said: "We were called at 8.50am to reports of two people suffering crush injuries.

"One ambulance car and two ambulances attended the scene.

"The men were taken to hospital as priority patients but they were conscious en route."

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Police were called by Secamb at 8.52am on Thursday, April 14, to attend an incident in a building site in King Street, Ramsgate.

"A floor in a building had collapsed and a man had sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening."
