Margate murder suspect Aurimas Vilius appears in court as fourth arrest is made

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a man’s body was found at a house in Margate.

Aurimas Vilius appeared via video link at Medway Magistrates’ Court today accused of killing 38-year-old Edvardas Barscevicius from Margate.

He has also been charged with assault on another man, also from Margate, in connection with the incident.

Vilius, 24, of Cornwall Gardens, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 10.

The charges relate to the discovery of the body in Ethelbert Terrace on Monday and it is believed both victims and the suspect are known to one another.

Officers have now made a fourth arrest with a 41-year-old man from Margate arrested on suspicion of murder and currently in police custody.

A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released pending further enquiries.

A third man, aged 54, was released without charge.
