Pensioner in hospital after burglary in Swinburne Avenue, Broadstairs

A pensioner was taken to hospital after two burglars who had covered their faces assaulted him.

The burglary took place in Swinburne Avenue, Broadstairs, between 1pm and 2pm yesterday.

The victim, a man in his 70s, opened his front door to two men who are said to have forced their way inside before assaulting him and stealing items of jewellery.

Both suspects are believed to have had their faces covered.

The pensioner suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information.
