Margate: Mural based on Orange is the New Black unveiled outside Dreamland

A mural based on the hit series Orange is the New Black has been unveiled in Margate.

With Pride set to take over the town this weekend, Netflix teamed up with LGBTQ+ artist Hizze Fletcher to create the artwork in front of Dreamland on Marine Terrace.

It was made using a blend of techniques including acrylic, paint, paste and pens.

"Programmes such as Orange is the New Black help to shine a light on the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in popular culture," Hizze said.

"It's great to be part of this project during an important event such as Pride."

The culture-rich celebration will see a parade fill the streets on Saturday at 2pm, followed by a street party and an evening of entertainment.

Speakers at the rally include Sue Sanders of LGBT history months, Lady Phyll of UK Black Pride and Charlie Craggs - writer of My Trans Sisters.

A street party will then grip the town from 3-6pm in the centre of Margate - with DJs, performers and live music.

Ana Matronic will headline Dreamland's Sunset Session at 6pm.

At Sundowners, there will be drag shows and DJs all day and night.

An after party, Cockles and Muscles, will be held from 9pm-late at Lido Cliff Bar.
