Three engines attended, with the situation causing panic among neighbours who reported hearing “the biggest bang”.

No injuries were reported, but Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has warned those planning bonfires to keep them well away from trees, bushes and buildings.

“Burning should be supervised at all times, and there should always be a bucket of water nearby,” added a KFRS spokesperson.

Firefighters were finished at the scence by 10.12pm.
