Coronavirus Kent: Patients with Covid-19 being cared for in isolation at QEQM in Margate and William Harvey in Ashford

Patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 are being cared for in isolation at the QEQM and William Harvey hospitals.

A spokesman for East Kent Hospitals Trust, which runs the sites in Margate and Ashford, says highly trained and experienced teams are providing the best possible care for the patients and are following advice from Public Health England and the NHS nationally.

She added: "We would like to thank our staff for continuing to work tirelessly to care for our patients and to keep our hospitals and services running."

Yesterday East Kent Hospital bosses confirmed a patient had tested positive for coronavirus at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and said they had been preparing to treat patients with the disease.

A spokesman says it is safe to attend hospitals in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Margate.

"If you are well and have a planned appointment at the hospital, please attend as normal unless we contact you," she said.
