Police called to Ramsgate polling station amid concerns election rules were broken

Police have been called to a polling station today amid fears electoral laws were being broken.

A Brexit Party flag was put up close to St Laurence Parish Hall in Ramsgate where voting for the European elections is taking place until 10pm tonight.

A supporter of Nigel Farage's party was seen talking to potential voters.

Political parties are not permitted to canvass for votes on the day of elections.

A police spokesman said: "We are aware of concerns raised in St Lawrence High Street.

"Officers have attended and spoken to electoral officers, and no offences were committed."
