Northdown Road, Cliftonville, closed after three-vehicle collision

A serious crash led to a man being taken to hospital.

Police shut part of Northdown Road in Cliftonville this afternoon following the accident involving three cars.

Paramedics were also at the scene and an air ambulance landed nearby.

The crash happened between the junctions of Foreland Avenue and Holly Lane.

Police confirmed they were called to the crash at 2.45pm.

A spokesperson said: "A man sustained injuries and is being taken to a local hospital."

The ambulance service also confirmed it was called to a "serious RTC [road traffic collision]" today.

"The air ambulance service has joined us at the scene," a spokesperson said.

As of 6.20pm, the road had reopened.
