Pregnant woman Jwan Surani who recruited sister and brother to stab her ex-partner in Margate jailed

A pregnant woman who took revenge on the father of her unborn child has been jailed for nine years today.

Bitter Jwan Surani recruited her sister and younger brother before luring unsuspecting victim Murat Guzeller from his Margate home.

Then the three stabbed him 10 times and left him bleeding in the street with serious injuries during the savage attack in 2015.

All three – who denied carrying out the stabbing and refused to give evidence – have now admitted taking part.

Since the attack Jwan's two children are being cared for by family members.

Judge Catherine Brown told Jwan: “I am sure you learnt that Mr Guzeller might be involved with someone else.

“You were enraged and determined to have your revenge.

“You were not in a position to attack him because of your (pregnant) condition, so you recruited your younger sister, who you knew disliked Mr Guzeller and your teenage brother.”

Prosecutor Vivian Walters had told Canterbury Crown Court that the motive for the incident was “likely to have been her anger at his infidelity and the dishonour that his behaviour brought upon her and her family.”

Jwan, 24, sister Viyan, 22, and brother Karwan, 19, all from Chingford, had denied wounding Mr Guzeller intending to cause him serious harm. But the jury found them all guilty.

Now Vivyan and Karwan have both received six year sentences – Karwan will serve his in a Young Offender’s Institution.

Ms Walters said: “The stabbing happened outside Harold Road in Margate on October 25 at around 10pm.

“Jwan and her ex-partner had separated but had at the time a 16-month-old daughter and she was seven months pregnant.

“Mr Gueller states that they had split up and were not in touch, although he was trying to decide if he should give in another go with Jwan for the sake of their daughter and the new child," she claimed.

A friend of Mr Guzeller woke him to say Jwan was at the house asking to speak to him. She asked if they could talk but wanted to do it outside.”

As the friend went to take his dog for a walk, Jwan began shouting at her estranged partner “about him having another woman” before slapping his face.

He was then grabbed from behind and struggled to break free and ended up in the road.

Ms Walters added: “He saw it was Viyan who had grabbed him and then caught sight of Karwan who slashed at him with a knife which struck his left-side of his body.

“He realised he had been stabbed and went into shock. Karwan stabbed him again and again as Jwan was shouting and screaming," she added.

Jwan and Viyan then ran to a waiting black Nissan and were joined by Karwan after Mr Gueller had managed to fight him off.

The prosecutor said that Mr Gueller managed to get back to the house “in agony and covered in blood”.

He was taken to QEQM Hospital before being transferred to King’s College Hospital in London and treated for wounds to his shoulder, elbow, chest, thigh and buttocks.
