Raiders tried to smash their way into a Co-op store during an attempted break-in in the early hours.
Police were called to the Cliftonville branch in Summerfield Road shortly after 5am today.
They received a report that damage had been caused to shop's glass entrance door, and are urging witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesman said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious at the time of the incident.
"Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage taken in the area is also urged to come forward."
