Sawn-off shotgun and drugs seized during police raid at Surrey Road property in Cliftonville, Margate

A sawn-off shot gun, cash and drugs have been seized from a flat in Cliftonville during a police raid.

Officers swooped on the property in Surrey Road, near Margate, at 3am today and remain at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy and four men, aged 65, 32, 20 and 19, all from Margate, have been arrested in connection with drug offences and remain in custody.

Forensics teams were among a large number of officers attending the incident in the residential street this afternoon.

As many as six patrol cars and vans attended the scene, which centres on a flat in the road, opposite Thanet Indoor Bowls Club and the seafront.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate attended the flat in Surrey Road at around 3am.

"A sawn-off shotgun, a large amount of cash and quantities of suspected cocaine and heroin were seized during the warrant, which was carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act."
