Fire crews tape off path in Cliftonville after scaffolding comes loose from building in strong winds

Fire crews have cordoned off a pathway leading to a busy high street after strong winds caused scaffolding to come loose and hang off the side of a building.

The path leading off Caroline Square in Cliftonville to Northdown Road was taped off just after 3pm to stop people passing while action is taken to secure the scaffolding.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service says the firm responsible for putting it up has been informed.

"One fire engine was sent to the scene, and crews cornered off the area to help make the scene safe," she said.

"The scene was then passed into the care of a scaffolding firm."
