The school, run by the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust, says it has taken the decision after two positive cases - both members of staff who work as part of its pastoral team.

As a result, 16 members of staff and 28 pupils who have been in close contact have been told to isolate - however, none are currently showing any symptoms of the virus.

Writing to parents today, headteacher Robert Page said: "To prevent additional cases l have taken the decision to move to ‘remote learning’.

"This means all pupils will be at home next week with the plan to be back in school on November 9 as isolating staff should be able to return to work as long as no additional cases appear. Any meetings you may have had with teachers are cancelled. You will be contacted to rearrange.

"I will be meeting with teachers tomorrow morning remotely, to discuss our provision for remote learning and they will then be in touch with you shortly after this.
