Cannabis plants found after house blaze in King Edward Avenue, Broadstairs

A cannabis factory with 100 plants was uncovered after police and fire crews were called to a house blaze.

Seven fire engines were sent to King Edward Avenue, Broadstairs at 11.30pm on Saturday.

Police have since confirmed more than 100 cannabis plants were found at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a house fire in King Edward Avenue, Broadstairs at around 11.50pm on Saturday 17 May 2025.

“Officers attended to assist at the scene while Kent Fire and Result extinguished the fire.

“At the scene, a cannabis cultivation containing more than 100 plants was located within the building. Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.”

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.”

Firefighters were at the scene for two hours.
