An Audi which crashed within a stone’s throw of a secondary school was taped off in the middle of a pavement.

The blue A3 model hit a van in Fairfield Road, Broadstairs late on Saturday night.

An image sent to KentOnline shows half of the passenger side of the vehicle smashed with police tape across the car in front of a garden wall.

Until about 1.30pm today (Monday), it remained abandoned on the pavement at the road’s junction with Fair Street and opposite The Charles Dickens School.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to a report that a car had collided with a parked van and a wall in Fairfield Road, Broadstairs at 11.50pm on Saturday.

“Officers attended and spoke to the driver at the scene [and] no serious injuries were reported.”

The van is also believed to have suffered some damage in the crash, although it is no longer in Fairfield Road.

Residents say they feel both confused and angry following the latest crash on the stretch.

One person said: “My son left for school this morning, but it’s not the first and won’t be the last [there].

“It’s ridiculous, sometimes people come flying down there so fast.”

Another commented: “They can’t be keeping to the 30mph speed limit. How on earth can that happen?”
