CCTV appeal after reports of attempted shed thefts in Broadstairs

A would-be thief was spotted leaping over garden fences following a string of attempted break-ins.

Police are now warning residents to be vigilant following several burglary efforts on sheds within the area.

Officers were alerted to reports a man was seen jumping over back fences in Ranelagh Grove in St Peters, Broadstairs at about 4am yesterday.

An hour later, a man was reportedly seen attempting to break into a shed in Grant Close, St Peters.

At 9pm that evening, a person was seen trying to gain access into an outbuilding in Dane Court Gardens., also in the village

A CCTV image of a person police believe may be able to assist inquiries has been released as part of the ongoing investigation.

Following the incidents, residents in the area are being advised to ensure windows, doors and garages are locked and any security systems are switched on when away from the house.

Switch on any external security lighting or CCTV and report any suspicious activity as soon as possible by ringing 999.

Police also advise using timer switches on lights and radios to make your home look occupied when out, and make sure items such as ladders or bins, which can be used to climb over fences or into windows, are stored away, out of view.
