Man taken to hospital and teen arrested after attack at Viking Bay in Broadstairs

A teen has been arrested after an attack on a busy beach resulted in a man being taken to hospital for head injuries.

Emergency services, including the police and air ambulance, were called to Viking Bay, Broadstairs, at around 5pm yesterday to reports of a fight on the beach front.

The force says it involved a group of people and a man was assaulted in the process and suffered a head injury.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and the coastguard before being taken to hospital.

A 17-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and help their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Claire Munday of Margate CID said: "There was a large number of people on the beach at the time of this incident and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call the appeal line.

"We would also urge anybody who has footage of the disturbance to contact us as it may assist our investigation."
