Travellers at The Chine in Ramsgate removed by bailiffs pitch up at the East Cliff

Travellers today moved on by bailiffs after ignoring a court order have pitched up just one mile away.

The group, who pitched up at The Chine in Ramsgate last month, were served a notice by Thanet District Council to leave.

It went unacknowledged by the travellers, and so bailiffs were today on site to carry out an enforced removal.

But the travellers have now pitched up at the East Cliff in Ramsgate - which is slightly more than a mile away.

A spokesman for TDC said: "Thanet District Council submitted an application for removal to the court for the traveller group based at The Chine in Ramsgate in March.

"The order was granted however, the group did not move on, prompting officers to engage bailiffs to facilitate removal.

"This took place today."
