In a letter to parents, head teacher Matthew Tate said they are following Public Health England guidance and that those affected must stay home.

Prior to children returning to the classroom on Monday, testing was carried out.

The school said: "Students will be having two tests prior to return and one test in school.

"After this all testing can take place at home."

All secondary aged youngsters and college students are being offered testing which is hoped to help reduce the spread of infections.

Students will be tested three times in the first two weeks and then will be given two rapid tests to use each week at home.

At the end of last year, hundreds of pupils were sent home from schools across Thanet as Covid rates started to rise.
