Police were seen separating a group of people on the steps on The Parade.

A spokesman said: "Officers attended and a dispersal order was put in place to clear the area and deter further disturbance."

Two teenagers were arrested and police have now confirmed a 19-year-old woman from Margate was issued with a £90 penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

A 17-year old boy, also from the area, who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, has been released under investigation.

The Margate ruckus is among several recent violent clashes on the Kent coast.

On Sunday, a brawl broke out on the east quay at Whistable.

Six days earlier, officers were called to nearby Broadstairs when a fight erupted between two groups of people on the beach in Viking Bay.

The incident has now led to security patrols being rolled out on beaches in response to the shocking antisocial behaviour.

The trial, set to run for six weeks, will focus mainly on Viking Bay.
