A body has been found at a beach after police were called to reports of concern for a woman.

It follows a large emergency services response at West Bay in Westgate-on-Sea on Thursday morning.

Police, fire crews, the ambulance service and the coastguard attended the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 10.36am on Thursday to a report of concern for a woman near to the seafront at Westgate-on-Sea.

“Officers attended with partner agencies and a woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”

A fire services spokesperson added: “One fire engine attended, and crews assisted Kent Police.”
