Police Constable Nick Mayo says officers arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the offence on the same day and he has been bailed until December 19.

"In addition to the arrest, we are reviewing CCTV from the area and have spoken with witnesses who came to the victim’s aid after hearing a disturbance taking place," he said.

"We do however believe there may have been other members of the public in the area who could have information on what happened and I am appealing for them to contact us.

"We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who recalls seeing a man running in St Augustine’s Road while wearing a navy blue coat and tracksuit bottoms."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/229773/19.
