A mystery woman has scooped more than £19,000 after placing a £1 bet at a Kent casino.

The 51-year-old from Broadstairs bagged the windfall during a night out at Grosvenor Casino, Westwood Cross.

Her £1 flutter on a poker hand made her a fortune – walking away with £19,103.

The anonymous winner placed the bet on Grosvenor Casinos’ Crazy 4 Poker game in which players receive five cards in an attempt to make the best five-card poker hand in a bid to beat the dealer.

She revealed a straight flush of 8, 9, 10, Jack, and Queen of diamonds.

“This will take a while to sink in,” the player said.

“It is all a bit surreal, and I think I will treat myself to a new Gucci bag.”

Casino general manager Natalie Kelly said: “We’re over the moon that one of our customers has won so big.

“It was a special night with the whole casino buzzing with excitement when the player’s hand was revealed.”
