Margate manager Nikki Bull signs former Dagenham & Redbridge goalkeeper Chris Lewington

New Margate manager Nikki Bull has made his first signing - goalkeeper Chris Lewington.

The 27-year-old will be available for selection for Saturday's National League South clash against Gosport Borough at Hartsdown Park.

If selected, Lewington will replace Bull in the Margate goal allowing the new manager to marshal his troops from the dugout.

Lewington, who began his career at Charlton as a 13-year-old, had short spells at Dulwich Hamlet, Fisher Athletic and Sittingbourne before joining Leatherhead.

His performances at Leatherhead earned him a Football League move to Dagenham & Redbridge, where he made 120 appearances.

After leaving the Daggers, Lewington linked up with Colchester in League One but was released in the summer of 2015 after making just one appearance.
