Margate have taken Matt Johnson and Sean Shields on loan from Vanarama National League South leaders Ebbsfleet United.

Johnson, 25, is a box to box midfielder while 23-year-old Shield is a pacey winger.

Johnson joined the Fleet from Bishop's Stortford last season making 37 appearances. He has previously also played for Rushden & Diamonds, Dover and Braintree.

Shields spent eight years at the Tottenham Academy before bursting onto the non-league scene with St Albans where he netted 21 goals in 100 appearances.

Shields moved to League 2 Dagenham & Redbridge in January 2013 but after an unsuccessful time there returned to St Albans before joining Ebbsfleet United in January.

Both players are available for the trip to St Albans City on Saturday and will remain on loan until January 6.

Gate boss Terry Brown is also in talks with a forward but is less hopeful that deal will be completed before the weekend.
