Margate 3 Bury Town 0 - Ryman League Premier Division match report

Margate kept up the pressure on Ryman League Premier Division leaders Maidstone with a 3-0 home win against bottom club Bury Town.

Both sides had struggled to create chances in a poor first half until Freddie Ladapo put Gate in front on 40 minutes with a fine turn and finish into the far corner.

Tom Phipp had gone closest for Gate, a minute earlier, when his header was saved by Bury keeper Alex Archer.

Earlier Ryan Moss saw a shot deflected wide, while Luke Moore, Ladapo and Tambeson Eyong all missed the target with efforts.

At the other end Chris Benjamin saw a shot clip the bar, when he really should have scored - luckily for him, the offside flag had been raised and it wouldn't have counted anyway.

Margate made a fast start to the second half, with Ladapo almost adding his second but for a smart save from Archer.

Sam Rents then had a goalbound effort headed over the bar and Ben Gerring missed the target from six yards from the resulting corner.

However, Gerring was involved in Margate's second goal. He was tripped in the box and Lewis Taylor made no mistake with the penalty kick, sending Archer the wrong way to double Gate's lead.

And the result was sealed late on when Ladapo scored his second and Gate's third, smashing home from the edge of the area.

The result moved Margate upto second, six points behind Maidstone.
