The one-time Inter Milan player, now 28, has played for many of Kent’s top non-league sides, most recently Tonbridge Angels. He’s also played under Saunders at Maidstone United and is currently academy coach at Dartford.

He joins Margate as a player and a coach and Saunders is delighted to have him.

Commenting on the signing, the Gate boss said: “Securing Ben’s services is a fantastic piece of news to share with supporters. It’s a key signing for me, as he’s a player I know well, I’ve worked with him before and I know exactly what he will bring to my squad.

“Ben is a very experienced player and a coach too, he knows the game well and played a significant number of matches at a higher level. That quality, experience and leadership he offers will be a real asset for us.”
