Air ambulance lands after crash between bike and car on the A228 Boyle Way, East Peckham

A motorcyclist was airlifted to a London hospital with a serious leg injury after a collision with a car in East Peckham.

The helicopter was spotted landing near Boyle Way, after the crash which happened just before 4.30pm on Thursday.

It is understood two ambulances, police officers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene and the road was closed on the southbound carriageway near Branbridges Road.

A passenger who was on the bike, and a woman who had been driving the car, also reported injuries and received medical attention at hospital.

Traffic was slow due to the accident between Branbridges Road and Beltring Road.

Congestion also built up on the northbound carriageway as motorists passed the crash scene.

A spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a collision involving a car and a bike at 4.24pm on Thursday.

"Officers attended the scene in Boyle Way, East Peckham with other emergency services."

The road reopened around 9.30pm.
