A former nightclub, set to be turned into flats after it closed seven years ago, is on the market after developers behind the scheme went into receivership.
Construction work had begun converting what was Source of Sound, better known as SOS, in Tonbridge into 23 apartments, plus a ground-floor commercial unit.
However, Watling Real Estate has now listed the Avebury Avenue site for sale after receivers Martyn Ewing and Adam Stephens of Evelyn Partners were called in.
The plot, which was owned by Avebury Avenue Ltd, was set to be a mixture of 12 one-bed, eight two-bed and three three-bed apartments.
The estate agents say there have been “positive” pre-application discussions around increasing the number of flats to 34, however, although this would be subject to planning permission.
Jamie Lamond, a director at Watling Real Estate, said: “The nightclub closed on Christmas Eve in 2017 and planning permission for conversion to apartments and a commercial unit was granted in 2019.
“Since that time, construction has started but sadly the developers were unable to complete the scheme.”
The plans provide for between 14 and 20 parking spaces, including undercroft parking.
Mr Lamond added: “This is an attractive investment opportunity in a building which curves round the corner of Avebury Avenue and River Lawn Road.
“It is just two minutes’ walk from Tonbridge High Street, and 10 minutes to Tonbridge Railway Station which has frequent 40-minute train services into central London, 35 miles to the northeast.”
The plans for flats were granted in 2019 after the club, the only one in the town, shut on Christmas Eve, 2017 to the dismay of revellers.
Afterwards, it was a community creative space called Hub for a while.
No sale price has been listed, but Watling Real Estate is inviting offers.
