The investment features improvements to the garden area, including new furniture and more outdoor seating for around 150 covers.

The grade II listed pub, which is owned by the Greene King chain, will also get a new look inside with new furnishings to modernise it while honouring its “rich heritage”.

As a result of the revamp, further jobs have been created, but it is not known how many exactly.

General manager Clive Coleridge said: “We’re excited to reveal a brand-new look and feel at the Vauxhall Inn this summer, with the pub closing for a short period from 12 May whilst renovations take place.

“Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service to all our customers, and following the Vauxhall Inn’s transformation both inside and out, we hope to create a seamless experience for our guests.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy our upgraded facilities when we officially reopen our doors this June.”

The total cost of the refurbishment has not been confirmed, but Greene King says it will be a six-figure sum.
