Man charged after three officers assaulted in Tonbridge Police Station

A man is due to appear in court after allegedly assaulting three police officers.

It is reported the officers were punched and kicked in Tonbridge Police Station yesterday.

Sean Elliott, of no fixed address, was later charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He was also charged with a separate incident of assault last month, as well as two counts of criminal damage.

The 25-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

The Assaults on Emergency Workers Act came into force in 2018 and includes news laws to help protect police, paramedics, nurses and other blue light workers. It also provides tougher sentencing powers for judges.
