Man charged with theft after Yamaha motorbike stolen on Norwich Avenue, Tonbridge

A suspect has been charged with theft after a motorbike was reported stolen from an address in Tonbridge.

Officers were called to suspicious activity in Coventry Road just before 5:30am on Tuesday. Patrols searched the area and saw two men in Romney Way next to a Yamaha motorbike.

Police say the suspects ran from the scene and after a short pursuit one was detained nearby.

Following enquiries, the Yamaha had allegedly been stolen from an address in Norwich Avenue.

A second motorcycle at the same premises is thought to have suffered damage to its alarm wires.

Bobby Thorpe, 27, of Norfolk Road, Tonbridge was later charged with theft and interfering with a motor vehicle.

He was remanded in custody and is to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
