A turtle found crawling in a plastic bag has found a new home.
The National Centre for Reptile Welfare in Hadlow took in a new member on Saturday after the discovery.
The musk turtle was taken to a nearby pet shop, but Natalie Dugdale was able to take it to a better home.
She said: "My friend called me and asked what to do as I've got reptiles.
"When I got their he was really dirty and he smelt, we wasn't sure what kind of turtle he was at first.
"I got him into a tank and took him to the centre. They gave him a shower there which I don't think he liked much, but that's when we realised he was a musk turtle."
Musk turtles are also known as "stinkpots" as they can give off a rancid smell from its glands when disturbed.
Miss Dugdale added: "The man who picked up him up from the dump is the real hero.
"It's lucky that this was a musk turtle, if it was a breed used to warmer climates then it could have got into real trouble.
"As soon as he was in the water he seemed a lot happier."
