Tonbridge Angels' games against Maidstone United and Dartford postponed after positive Covid test

The Boxing Day derby between Tonbridge and Maidstone is off following a positive Covid-19 test in the Angels squad.

Angels’ game against Dartford on December 28 is also postponed, with players and management in isolation.

Their next fixture is set to be what would have been the return game against Maidstone, at the Gallagher Stadium, on January 2.

The player in question felt unwell following Saturday’s 4-4 friendly draw at Burgess Hill.

Angels boss Steve McKimm said: “One of the lads who was in and around the squad on Saturday felt unwell on Sunday, went for a test on Monday and it’s come back positive.

“We’re all self-isolating, me included, so it means the Maidstone and Dartford games are off.

“Before anyone says this wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t played the friendly, that isn’t true, because we’d have trained instead and the player would have been at training, so we’d still be in this situation.”

The isolation period ends on December 30.
