Tonbridge Angels to face bogey side Harlow after gruelling run

It doesn't get any easier for Tonbridge Angels after a run of four games in eight days.

Angels return to action today at home to bogey side Harlow, followed by a quick return game at Billericay on Easter Monday.

Steve McKimm's side lost 2-1 at Harlow in September and tend to struggle against them, although the Essex club are down in 21st place in the Bostik Premier.

McKimm, whose men are 11th, said: "This will be a tough game against a big, physical side who are well-organised.

"We don't do well against them unfortunately - they always seem to have the edge over us.

"Sometimes no matter what you try against a certain team it doesn't work. It's a strange one." Tonbridge's gruelling run ended with a 2-1 defeat at Wingate & Finchley last weekend.

Two down at half-time, Sonny Miles replied on the hour but Angels ran out of time to snatch a draw.

McKimm said: "The run of games we've had is mentally and physically tiring.

"You could see in the fourth game, for the first 20 minutes we were slow to second balls and we weren't able to get off the ground with first balls.

"After that, we got a second wind and I honestly think if the game had gone on for another 10 minutes we'd have got something." Tonbridge beat title favourites Billericay 2-1 on Thursday last week thanks to late goals from Joe Turner and Nathan Elder.

Ricay went on to lose 4-1 at Hendon on Saturday, a match that hit the headlines after manager Glenn Tamplin jumped a fence and walked out with his side 3-0 down. But they bounced back with a 3-1 win at Wingate & Finchley on Monday night and beat Harrow 2-0 on Wednesday to go into the Easter weekend two points off top spot with three games in hand. McKimm said: "We deserved to beat them the other night - the boys showed great character.

"We had a couple of chances before going one down to a deflected strike and you're thinking 'here we go' but the boys were brilliant.

"I can't speak highly enough of them."
